CUSTOMER PRIVACY STATEMENT


GCF Bank is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. The foundation of each customer relationship at GCF, many of which span generations, is trust. We value your business and strive to preserve the trust you place in us. GCF Bank recognizes and respects your expectation that your personal financial information remains confidential and secure. The employees and representatives of GCF Bank are committed to protecting your privacy.

The purpose of this statement is to outline the privacy standards and procedures utilized by GCF Bank, which are intended to protect your privacy, for the collection, use, retention and safeguarding of non-public personal information.

Definitions

Affiliates - Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies. GCF has no affiliates.

Non-affiliiates - Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies. Non-affiliates we share with can include loan brokers, insurance companies, title insurance agencies, financial institutions and direct marketing companies.

Nonpublic Personal Information - Personal or financial information about you that is not publicly available or that was obtained by us from a nonpublic source.

Joint Marketing - A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. GCF may enter into joint marketing agreements with loan brokers or other financial companies.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT, USE AND RETAIN

GCF Bank may collect, use or retain non-public personal information about you from:
  • Applications or other forms completed by you, for example, to open a deposit account or obtain one of our loan products.
  • Consumer Reporting Agencies, for example, information regarding credit and checking account histories.
  • Your transactions with us, for example, your account balances, payment history and overdraft history with us.
All non-public personal information collected and maintained by us is used for specific business purposes, enabling us to: process and service your account(s), comply with state and federal banking laws and regulations, protect against fraud and formulate a better understanding of your financial needs to provide you with improved products and services.

INFORMATION WE DISCLOSE ABOUT YOU

GCF is committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs. This may require that we share information about you with business partners to provide the product or service you have requested. For example, in order to receive your ATM card, GCF provides only the necessary information to the appropriate partner so that this service can be fulfilled.

GCF may disclose any or all of the nonpublic personal information we collect from you or about you as previously noted and as permitted by law to companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we may enter into a joint marketing agreement or to nonaffiliated third parties as previously noted.

To protect our customers' privacy, GCF only does business with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide. We do not permit these companies to sell the customer information we provide to other third parties.

SAFEGUARDING YOUR NON-PUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION

Limiting Employee Access to Information

Employee access to customer information is limited to those employees who have a business reason to know such information. Employees understand that all customer information is considered private and privileged and is to be used solely for the purpose of providing you with the best service available. Employees are educated that discussing non-public personal information or leaving non-public personal information in the public's view is not permissible.

Data Access Security

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards. We maintain strict security procedures and policies regarding the unauthorized access to customers' personal and financial information. We review our technology and security standards regularly to ensure we maintain the highest standards for securing your privacy. All of our operational and data processing systems exist in a secure environment. These systems are tested regularly to make sure they work.

We maintain internal policies and procedures to protect the security and the confidentiality of your non-public personal information.

Maintenance of Accurate Information

We have established procedures to ensure that all information provided to us is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable banking standards. We will promptly respond to requests to correct inaccurate information.

Former Customer Relationships

If you elect to discontinue your customer relationship with us or if we elect to discontinue our customer relationship with you, we will handle the information we have about you as if you were still our customer.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY

GCF is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. You can help by:
  • Shredding or destroying documents with personal information before you discard them.
  • Protecting your Social Security number. Provide it to others only if absolutely necessary or request to use another identifier.
  • Not sharing personal information like user IDs, PINs, Social Security number, or code words, on the phone, through the mail, over the Internet or through e-mail.
  • Not clicking on links sent in unsolicited e-mails; instead type in the Web address you know, and exit online applictions as soon as you finish using them. Always use a secure browser.
  • Making certain you use up-to-date firewalls, anti-spyware, and anti-virus software to protect your computer.
  • Not using obvious passwords. Avoid using birth dates, your mother's maiden name, your child's name, your pet's name or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
  • Keeping personal information secured at home, especially if you employ outside help or are having work done in your home.
  • Not providing personal information over the phone until you have verified the caller. Be aware of phone phishing or vishing. Fraudulent calls asking for user name, password, account number or other personal information are frequent. Often these are automated voice calls warning customers of a cancelled debit card or closed account.
  • Immediately reporting lost or stolen checks, and debit, credit or ATM cards.
  • Reviewing your bank statement, credit card and other billing statements regularly for charges you did not make.
  • Monitoring your credit report for accuracy. By law, you are entitled to receive one free credit file report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies. Visit www.annualcreditreport.com for more information.
  • Keeping your information with us current. Update address and other personal information as soon as possible. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you.
DISCLOSURES PERMITTED BY LAW

Although you may exercise your right to opt out, GCF is legally permitted to disclose any or all of the information we collect from you or about you under certain circumstances.
  • We may share your information with nonaffiliated third parties, or companies or other entities that are not our affiliates, with whom we contract to provide marketing services on our behalf or other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements.
  • We may share your information with affiliates and non-affiliated third parties to the extent necessary to process, obtain, service, maintain, administer or enforce a financial service or product that you have requested we provide to you or obtain for you.
  • We may share your information in connection with a proposed or actual sale, merger, transfer or exchange of all or a portion of a business or operating unit if the disclosure of nonpublic personal information solely concerns customers of such business or unit.
  • We may share your information at your direction or with your consent.
  • We may share your information to comply with federal, state or local laws, rules and other applicable legal requirements.
Changes to Our Customer Privacy Statement

This Customer Privacy Statement is subject to change in the future. Customers will be notified prior to any change in this policy, will be provided a copy of the revised privacy notice and given a reasonable time to respond to any changes.

Your Privacy Online - Additional Information for Internet Users

GCF takes every precaution to provide you with the same level of privacy within our virtual branch that you receive through more traditional bank delivery channels with regard to safeguarding the information that you have entrusted to us.

For the most part, you can visit us on the Internet without disclosing to us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. However, there are several areas that will collect certain information about you and we want you to know how we handle that information.

GCF collects no personal or financial information from visitors to the Web site. We do record statistics about which pages of this Web site are visited, how much time is spent on a particular page, etc. GCF uses this information for internal review purposes only. This information enables us to tell which areas of the Web site are of most interest to our users, which avenues of site promotion are most effective and when peak usage times occur.

If you choose to enter our Online Banking/Web Pay service, you will be requested to enter your ACCESS ID/USER NAME and Password along with another means of authenticating your identity. We collect personal and/or financial information in order to process your transaction, request to open a deposit account or loan application request. GCF is committed to providing the highest level of security and privacy regarding the collection and use of our Online Banking/WebPay/Cyber Saver/CDARs customer's personal information, as well as that of all visitors to our Web site.

COOKIES AND WEB BUGS

Cookies are data tags used by Web servers to identify individual users that have accessed a Web site. Cookies serve a variety of legitimate functions including aiding user navigation, personalization of user online experience and for user authentication purposes. When using Online Banker, Cyber account opening or WebPay, GCF's online banking products, a cookie may be generated with the initial login to the secure site.

Cookies related to aiding user navigation and Web site personalization are generally not written to disk nor retained after the Web site session has ended. Cookies related to user authentication are written to disk and retained after the Web site session has ended to be utilized for future authentication purposes.

Web bugs are objects embedded in a web page or e-mail. They are usually invisible to the user. Web bugs track who is reading a web page or e-mail, when and from what computer. At this time, GCF does not use web bugs to collect any personal information.

THIRD PARTY WEB SITE LINKS

GCF's Web site contains links for your convenience to third party Web sites that you may find useful. GCF does not endorse or guarantee the security or privacy of any external Web site, nor can GCF be held responsible for any information that may be gathered at a linked site. Those sites may have their own privacy policies. Once you leave GCF's site, our privacy policy will no longer be in effect. You should review the privacy policy of any Web site before you provide personal or confidential information.

E-MAIL

If you contact us via e-mail, please note that your e-mail address and other information your e-mail header shows about you, such as your name or organization, will be revealed to us in the e-mail. Please note if you are sending e-mail to GCF, that e-mail is not a secure transmission method. Thus, we request that you do not send sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, account numbers or any type of password via e-mail to GCF. Please use postal mail or a telephone call when submitting this information.

When you supply us with your postal or e-mail address or telephone number online, you may receive periodic mailings or telephone contact from us with information on new products, services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings or contact, please let us know by contacting us by e-mail or writing to us at the address stated in this notice.

GCF may use e-mail lists that we have assembled from individuals who have indicted they want additional information about our services or wish to subscribe to our online newsletter, GCFlash. Your e-mail address will not be sold nor will it be shared with others outside GCF unless authorized by you or we are compelled to do so by applicable law or court order. We do not link our e-mail lists to any other databases. GCF does not store e-mails or individual information on our web server. All personally identifiable information is stored on servers behind our firewall.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY POLICY

GCF's Children's Privacy Policy on our GCKids page strictly complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

HOW TO OPT-OUT OR STOP CERTAIN DISCLOSURE ABOUT YOU

In the course of providing services to our customers, GCF Bank collects and shares information about you. GCF is required by law to provide you with the right to "opt-out" of information sharing with certain businesses, other than what is permitted by law. This means that you may direct us not to disclose information about you to certain business.

Unless we hear from you, GCF may share all the nonpublic personal information about you that we collect with the non-affiliated third parties specified previously. The specific companies that receive information from us are prohibited from using that information about you for any purpose other than what we agree to by contract.

If you prefer that GCF does not disclose your personal information to nonaffiliated third parties, you may exercise your "opt-out" right at any time by sending a written request to "opt-out" of GCF's information sharing agreements at a later time to:

If you have "opted-out" of information sharing in the past, your request remains in effect. You do not need to "opt-out" again. Please allow 30 days to process your request. If you wish later to revoke your "opt-out" election, please contact us.

GCF Bank may continue to provide marketing information in your regular account mailings and statements, including electronic communications. This "opt-out" option, by law, will not apply to disclosures that we may make to companies that perform services on our behalf. If we receive an "opt-out" election from you and there are other individuals on your account or co-borrowers on y our loan, GCF will treat it as an "opt-out" election by all joint account holders and co-borrowers.
